ABOUT ABOUT

In solidarity with all people that are subject to oppression, Inscape performs one of the most iconic works of the 20th century. Olivier Messiaen's Quatuor pour la fin du temps was written while the composer was held in a prisoner of war camp in Görlitz, Germany (now Zgorzelec, Poland) during World War II. Having been captured by the Nazi's the work was first performed by Messiaen and three other inmates at the camp.  The program opens with a lyrical work by Arnold Schoenberg, Ein Stelldichein. Found as an unfinished fragment after the composer's dealth, this deeply lyrical and haunting work demonstrates the composers early connection to the romantic style of the 19th century.

Program:
Arnold Schoenberg: Ein Stelldichein (A Rendezvous)
